Databasement guided Dräger Medical, a company active in the field of patient care products and services and home assistance, through its migration to a new configuration which couples maximum data availability with minimum system administration effort and minimum TCO (Total Costs or ownership)
Dräger Medical chose to migrate to a new VMWare environment, where the existing physical servers were migrated to a new ESX-server and the fileserver to a SAN solution, because of its higher availability and reliability.
Server management is carried out through VMWare Virtual Center. Whilst maintaining availability, the active servers and associated processes can be more efficiently moved from one server to another.
The named SAN-solution makes regular snapshot copies possible, whilst the system is in operation and without impact for the end-users. Furthermore a lot of time is saved in file restore operations and potential data loss is limited to a maximum of just a few hours.
